Pats Place Five In Pro Bowl
Wednesday, December 24, 2014
The official Pro Bowl roster for the 2015 NFL Pro Bowl has been announced and the New England Patriots have five members of their 12-3 team that have been placed on the Pro Bowl roster: Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski on offense, Darrelle Revis on defense along with Matthew Slater and Stephen Gostkowski on special teams. The Pro Bowl will be played on January 25, 2015, at University of Phoenix Stadium, the same stadium that will host Super Bowl XLIX.
Brady Being Brady
Tom Brady is the least surprising member of the list of Patriots to make the Pro Bowl. Brady has been selected to 10 Pro Bowls, a Patriots team record. The selection gives Brady one more Pro Bowl selection than Hall of Fame guard John Hannah. Brady has thrown for 4,029 yards and 33 touchdowns with one week left in the regular season.

It was no surprise that Rob Gronkowski was also named to the Pro Bowl. He has hauled in 82 catches for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns in his return to the field from a torn ACL. Gronkowski’s miraculous return to the top of the NFL gave the man known as “Gronk” his 3rd Pro Bowl of his career.
Pro Bowl Island
Revis Island can be a lonely place for wide receivers. That could lead to a long Pro Bowl for the receiving group as Darrelle Revis was named to his 6th Pro Bowl in the last seven seasons. Revs has matched-up with some of the top receivers in the NFL in his first season with the Patriots, shutting them all down.
Clutch Kicking
Stephen Gostkowski has been one of the premier kickers in the NFL in 2014. He leads the NFL with 147 points with one week left — tops in the NFL. Gostkowski is currently 32-of-34 on the season, good for an amazing 94.1 field goal percentage. This amazing number earned the kicker his 3rd Pro Bowl trip.
Special Teams Ace
Matthew Slater’s name is becoming synonymous with special teams excellence. The Patriots special teams captain will be going to his 4th consecutive Pro Bowl. Slater leads the Patriots with 14 special teams tackles in 2014 with one game to play.
While all of the Patriots named to the Pro Bowl are honored, they will be looking to skip the Pro Bowl. That is because the two teams in the Super Bowl do not send their Pro Bowl players to the game. The Patriots have locked-up the top seed in the AFC and home field throughout the AFC Playoffs, meaning the road to Glendale, Arizona, goes through Foxboro.
