Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics Crack Forbes Top 50 Sports Franchises

The New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics were all featured in Forbes’ new Top 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams for 2014.
The Patriots come in at #8 worldwide, valued at $1.8 billion. The Patriots are the 2nd most valuable NFL franchise, trailing only the Dallas Cowboys.
The Red Sox are the 3rd most valuable MLB franchise behind the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Sox are valued at $1.5 billion, 11th in the world.

That’s good for 4th among NBA franchises, trailing only the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls.
The top 3 spots in Forbes’ rankings belong to European soccer clubs, with Spanish club Real Madrid earning the #1 spot at $3.44 billion.
While soccer clubs owned the top spots, the NFL is clearly the world’s #1 sports league value-wise, with 30 of the Forbes’ Top 50 spots going to American football teams (there are only 32 total teams in the NFL).
