Warwick North Headed to Little League World Series

Warwick North Little League is headed to the Little League World Series after they defeated Fairfield,Connecticut 5-1 on Saturday afternoon in Bristol. This is the third straight season in which a Rhode Island team has made it to the World Series.
Warwick will play their first World Series game on Thursday, August 18 at 3 p.m. against the Mid-Atlantic region winner.

GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTAfter trailing 1-0 early on, Warwick North took their first lead of the game in the 3rd inning when Colin Lemieux hit a 2 run home run to put Warwick up 3-1.
In the top of the 5th, Fairfield threatened with men on the corners and only one out. On a hit in the infield, Connecticut brought a runner home and he was initially ruled safe.
However, after instant replay, the umpire reversed his decision and called him out, taking a run off the board. Rhode Island got out of the inning on a ground ball to second.
Warwick added two more runs in the bottom of the 5th, the first coming on an RBI double by Lemieux.
In the bottom of the 6th, Fairfield put men on first and second with two outs but were not able to get a run across.
