The URI Rams (10-6, 2-1 A10) fell 72-67 to the (12-3, 2-1 A10) Saint Joseph's Hawks on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia. URI has their three game winning streak come to an end.

The Rams led 53-52 after a Four McGlynn free throw with 7:18 left to play in the game but Saint Joseph's would respond with a 11-3 run  to take a 63-56 lead with 3 minutes left to play.

The Rams would get back within five, 67-62, after a Hassan Martin layup with 1:24 to play but would not get any closer. 

The game was tied at 38 at the half. 

The Leaders 

The Rams were led by Hassan Martin who netted 20 points and also pulled down 8 rebounds in his first game back in the starting line up . 

Kuran Iverson followed up with 13 points, 10 of which came in the first half, and Jarvis Garrett added 12 along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. 

Next up 

The Rams continue their road stretch when they face St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, January 13. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.

Kuran Iverson

Kuran Iverson was second on the Rams in scoring with 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field, including 3 of 4 from three-point land. 

Iverson also grabbed 2 rebounds but only played 16 minutes due to foul trouble.

Jarvis Garrett

Jarvis Garrett stuffed the stat sheet for URI in this one. Garrett netted 12 points on 4 of 11 shooting from the field while dishing out 6 assists, led the team, and pulling down 5 rebounds, all defensive.

Garrett has now reached double figures in scoring in 3 straight games for URI 

Garrett played 38 minutes, the most of any other URI player.

2nd Chance Points

URI only lost the rebounding battle by two, 34-32, however, the Hawks managed to pull down 11 offensive rebounds. 

The 11 offensive rebounds helped lead Saint Joseph's to 11 second chance points. 

Meanwhile, URI grabbed 6 offensive rebounds but only managed to convert for 4 points.

Hassan Martin

Hassan Martin returned to the starting line up in his second game since coming off injury (came of bench last game), and poured in 20 points on 8 of 15 shooting from the field and also grabbed 8 rebounds. 

Martin blocked one shot but also showed some signs of rust as he turned the ball over 7 times in the game. 

Martin played 36 minutes.

Points off Turnovers

URI was in the game but it was turnovers that really hurt them. 

The Rams turned the ball over 16 times in the game which led to 21 points for the Hawks. 

Meanwhile, St. Joe's only turned the ball over 9 times, leading to 10 URI points.
