NEW: Sky Chiefs Fall 114-103 in Season Opener

The Providence Sky Chiefs (0-1) fell 114-103 To the (1-1) New England Shamrocks on Sunday night at the JWU Wildcat Center at Johnson & Wales University Campus.

"We have to do a better job of executing our defense and boxing out," said Sky Chiefs Head Coach Kyle Ivey-Jones after the game. 

The Sky Chiefs led 88-87 with six minutes left in the fourth quarter before New England went on a 12-2 run to go up 99-88 with just over 3 minutes to play.

Providence would get back within five points, 102-97, but were unable to get any closer the rest of the way. 

The Sky Chiefs trailed 56-52 at the half before rallying to take a 64-63 lead in the third quarter. 

The Leaders

The Sky Chiefs were led by Shane DaRosa who netted 22 points and Corey Wright followed up with 17 points.

Next Home game 

The Sky Chiefs next home game is set for January 31 at 6 p.m. The game will once again be played at JWU Wildcat Center. Prior to that, Providence is on the road for four straight games.
