PC Picks Up Crucial 74-69 Win Over Georgetown

The Providence College Friars picked up a crucial win on Saturday afternoon, beating the Georgetown Hoyas 74-69 in Washington D.C.
The win keeps the Friars inside the NCAA Tournament bubble with just two games left in the regular season.
Providence is now 18-11 on the season and 9-7 in the Big East.

The Friars have now beat Georgetown eight straight times dating back to 2014.
Friars Rally in 2nd Half
After trailing by as much as eight points in the game, the Friars were down 46-41 with 15:24 to play.
Sparked by back-to-back three-pointers by Kyron Cartwright, Providence went on an 18-3 run to take a 59-49 lead with 9:05 left after a three by Rodney Bullock.
PC would take as much as an 11 point lead, 64-53, with just under eight minutes left.
The Hoyas would then go on a run of their own. A jump shot by Marcus Derrickson with would cut the Friars lead to one, 68-67, with three minutes left.
Cartwright would increase PC’s lead to 70-67 on two free throws before Georgetown would again get within one, 70-69, on a Derrickson layup with 1:11 to play.
On PC’s ensuing possession, Alpha Diallo would drive to the basket and convert a layup to give the Friars a 72-69 lead.
Bullock would knock down two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the Friars win.
Bullock led Providence with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Cartwright and Diallo followed up with 16 and 14 points respectively.
Next Up
The Friars return to action on Wednesday, February 28 when they visit #5 Xavier.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
