PC Falls on Road to #3 Xavier 84-74

The Providence College Friars men's basketball team fell 84-74 to the #3 Xavier Musketeers on Wednesday night in Ohio.
The loss drops PC to 18-12 overall and 9-8 in the Big East.
With the win, Xavier clinches at least a share of the Big East regular-season title.

After trailing by three at the half, Providence cut Xavier’s lead to one, 40-39, in the opening minutes of the second half.
After that, Xavier took over.
The Musketeers went on a 10-0 run to take a 50-39 lead with 17:41 to play in the game.
Providence would get as close as six, 65-59, with 5:59 to play in the game before the Xavier would extend their lead to eight on two free throws by Quentin Goodin to make it 73-65.
PC’s Maliek White would knock down a jumper to make it 73-67 Xavier with 3:07 left to play, before Xavier would score six straight points to take a 79-67 lead with 1:07 to play.
Providence would not get closer than ten points the rest of the way.
Maliek White led the Friars with 15 points off the bench. Alpha Diallo followed up with 13 points to lead all starters.
Next up
The Friars return to action on Saturday, March 3 when they host St. John's in the final game of the regular season.
Game time is set for 12 p.m.
