NEW: Patriots Gronkowski to Have Back Surgery, Out 8 Weeks

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is having back surgery on Friday in Los Angeles for a herniated disc and is expected to be out as long as eight weeks. This will be Gronkowski's third back surgery in his NFL career.

Gronkowski left the Patriots" previous game against the Jets in the first quarter with a back injury and did not return. The injury was not believed to be serious at the time.
Prior to that, Gronkowski missed the game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a lung injury that he suffered in the Sunday Night game against the Seattle Seahawks.

They are 3-0 without Gronkowski so far this season.
New England hosts the LA Rams on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
