Hassan Martin goes down.

The URI Rams men's basketball team (7-5) fell to (6-6) Old Dominion 71-65 on Tuesday night in Norfolk, Virginia. During the game, URI lost Hassan Martin to a rolled ankle in the first half. Martin did not return to the game.

The Rams led 10-8  with 13 minutes left in the first half before Old Dominion rallied to go on a 16-4 run to go up 26-14 with six minutes left in the half.

URI would trail by 10, 34-24 at the half.

In the second half, URI trailed by 11, 56-45 with 7:43 left in the game before rallying to go on an 8-0 run to cut their deficit to three, 56-53, with five minutes left in the game.

However, that is as close as URI would get the rest of the game. Old Dominion would go on a quick 6-0 run to go up 62-53 and hold on for the 71-65 win.

The Leaders

Jared Terrell led the Rams with 15 points and 5 assists in the game.

Kuran Iverson followed up with 14 points and 13 rebounds, 5 of which came on the offensive end.

URI returns to action on December 30 when they visit in state rival Brown University at the Pizzitola Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Effort on the glass

Martin goes down early but URI still out rebounded Old Dominion 36-33 in the game.

That includes 15-7 on the offensive glass.

URI turned their 15 offensive rebounds into 15 points.

Given the circumstances, an impressive day on the boards for the Rams.

Jared Terrell

Jared Terrell led the Rams with 15 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the field and 7 of 8 from the free throw line.

Terrell also dished out 5 assists, grabbed three rebounds and recroded three steals in the game.

Kuran Iverson

With Hassan Martin going down early, URI needed someone to step up and Kuran Iverson did just that.

Iverson poured in 14 points on 5 of 15 shooting from the field and 4 of 4 from the free throw line while pulling down a team high 13 rebounds.

Of the 13 rebounds, 5 of them came on the offensive end.

Bench Points

The Rams have struggled with production off the bench off season and in this game they were outscored 36-10 by Old Dominion.

Earl Watson led the URI bench with 4 points.

Hassan Martin

After only playing 11 minutes in the game, Hassan Martin landed awkwardly and rolled his ankle.

Martin left the game and did not return, however, he did stay on the bench the rest of the game which is a good sign.

Martin had four points in the game before going out.
