The Boston Celtics continued preseason action by traveling to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut to take on the New York Knicks. Although luck was all around the C's in the casino, they could not find luck of their own and fell 96-80.

The Celtics started the game with a normal lineup of Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley, Evan Turner, Joel Anthony and Jared Sullinger -- but finished the game with none of their usual players on the floor and struggled to score in the 2nd half.

Sullinger and Marcus Thornton turned in good nights for the C's, registering 15 points apiece. Sullinger added seven rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes of action for the Green. Sullinger was out dueled by Carmelo Anthony, however. Anthony led the Knicks with 16 points and five rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.

The Celtics and Knicks kept the game close through most of the first three quarters, but the Knicks broke the game open late in the 3rd quarter when J.R. Smith hit consecutive three-pointers to give the Knicks the lead for good. Smith scored 14 points off the Knicks bench.

The Celtics also got 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals from Evan Turner, who did not play for most of the 2nd half. The Celtics will host the Toronto Raptors in preseason play on Wednesday and open the regular season on October 29 against Kevin Garnett and the Brooklyn Nets.
