Let the haters rejoice!

We are a few days removed from Super Bowl XLVI and, outside of New England, football fans are loving life.

Just about every NFL fan who is not a Patriots’ fan is thrilled with the fact that the Giants won on Sunday and it bothers you. It shouldn’t. In fact, you should enjoy the hatred.

There’s a reason why fans of every other NFL team want our Patriots to lose and it has nothing to do with Bill Belichick, Spygate or any of that. It’s because they win, plain and simple!

Our basic instincts as sports fans allow us to root for our team no matter what the circumstances, but we generally pull for the underdog when there is no rooting interest.

This is why fans outside of New England have been rooting against the Patriots for the better part of a decade now. Simply put, they resent the team’s success.

It may bother you that these “other” fans root against our team but it shouldn’t. Consider it a badge of honor. For if the Patriots were, say, the Cleveland Browns or the Jacksonville Jaguars, nobody would care about them at all.

In fact, it wasn’t too long ago that NFL fans cared very little about our franchise because it was not very good. But, once you reach the top, everyone wants to bring you down. And that is where the Patriots have been for the last 11 years.

So don’t get angry at the haters, Pats fans. Just give them a wink and a smile because they wish their team was as successful as yours. Let them eat their hearts out.

-No one is blaming Gisele Bundchen for defending her husband. It’s throwing his teammates under the bus that’s the issue.

-And I saw Vince Wilfork’s wife with Gisele when she made her remarks. Do you think that Wes Welker or Aaron Hernandez’s spouses were around when she made that comment about all of the dropped passes?

-Better yet, would she have criticized Big Vince in front of his wife?

-Did you see where the NY Knicks Jeremy Lin scored 28 points the other night? That’s the same Jeremy Lin who played his college basketball at Harvard.

-PC should not have lost to West Virginia on Sunday.

-KG may have hit three-pointers in three consecutive games, but he’s not going to make Celtics’ fans forget about Larry Bird anytime soon.

-Or Ray Allen, for that matter.

-I can’t believe people are complaining about Chrysler’s Super Bowl ad saying that it was a covert endorsement of Barack Obama.

-Then again, it is the silly season that is an election year.

-Of all of the talented high school players that Providence College is recruiting, Brewster Academy’s 6’-8” forward Jakarr Sampson was the one who impressed me the most at the 2012 Prep School Invitational.

-And Cushing Academy forward and Portsmouth, Rhode Island native Andrew Chrabascz also impressed with his all around skills and great control of his game.

-Central Florida, Houston, SMU, Navy, San Diego State, Boise State and now Memphis? They should change the name of the name of the conference from the Big East to the Big Beast.

-I had a Dolphins’ fan and Patriot-hater tell me that he’d rather his team not make the playoffs than lose in the Super Bowl like New England did. Hmmm. His team started the year 0-7 giving him nothing to root for all season and the Pats gave us 5+ months of enjoyment. I think I’ll stick with the Patriots.

-David Tyree’s catch in Super Bowl XLVII and Wes Welker’s non-catch in Super Bowl XLVI are all that separate Belichick and Brady from being the greatest of all-time and Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin from being bums who can’t win the big one.

-If I had to list my all-time Celtics starting five it would be Cousy at the point, Pierce at the two, Bird at the three, McHale at the four and Russell at the five. Havlicek, Cowens, Allen and Garnett would have to come off the bench.

-Me thinks Chad Ocho Cinco has played his last game in a Pats uniform.

-Although I’m not so sure that this coaching staff did the best to get the most out of him this past season.

-The Patriots re-signed WR Tiquan Underwood (aka KidPlay)Tuesday after cutting him from the roster just before the Super Bowl.

-No Super Bowl losing team has won a playoff game the following year since the 1997 New England Patriots last did it.

-Cheer up Pats fans, at least we’re not the Dallas Cowboys who continue to lose and are still hated.
