Cyril Langevine

Sophomore Cyril Langevine posted his second career double-double with a career-high 13 points and 10 rebounds as the University of Rhode Island Rams men’s basketball team edged the College of Charleston 68-62 on Saturday at the Ryan Center.

Ten of Langevine’s points and eight of his rebounds came in the second half.

“We had to earn that one and I’m proud of the way we played the last couple of minutes of that game. You could see a shift in confidence from our players. It’s a game we might have lost two years ago, but I’m happy with the way the guys gutted it out,” said URI head coach Dan Hurley after the game.

The Rams improve to 6-3 on the season.

URI Grinds Out Win

Trading 60-59 with 2:06 to play in the game, Langevine knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Rams a 61-60 lead.

After blocking a shot on the defensive end, Langevine went back to the free throw line and knocked down two more free throws to put the Rams up 63-60.

Jared Terrell knocked down five straight free throws and Langevine blocked another shot to give the Rams a 68-62 win.

The win comes after the Rams trailed by as much as six, 36-30, in the second half.

Matthews Returns

E.C. Matthews returned to the Rams lineup for the first time since November when he suffered a fractured wrist in URI’s second game of the season.

Matthews played 10 minutes off the bench and had four points and one rebound.
