Mike King led Hendricken to an undefeated season this year.

Bishop Hendricken's Mike King is the ninth Hawk to earn Gatorade Rhode Island Baseball Player of the Year.

King earned Second Team All-State honors last season as a junior, helping lead Hendricken to a Division I state title.

This season, King's record is unblemished, owning a perfect 7-0 record with a 0.30 earned run average. The senior right-handed pitcher also has 67 strikeouts to go along with just seven walks. King has not only done it on the mound, however, contributing to the Hawks lineup as one of their top hitters as well. Hitting even in games that he started on the mound, King sustained a .469 batting average for the season and drove in 18 runs.

King will be heading to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts to attend Boston College in the Fall, signing a National Letter of Intent to play for the Eagles earlier in the school year. Prior to his departure from Hendricken, however, King will look to help clinch another state championship for the Hawks.

In earning Gatorade Rhode Island Baseball Player of the Year, King becomes a finalist for the national Player of the Year award which is still waiting to be announced.
