Ironman races across RI

In the heat and the humidity, the top triathletes conquered Rhode Island.  The race that starts in Narragansett and finishes in Providence saw more than 1,200 competitors start the race.

The swim took place in the protected waters off Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett.  
 
The majority of the bike course ran through Exeter, West Greenwich, Coventry, North Scituate and Johnston. The bike route finished in downtown Providence, with the bike-to-run transition located at Waterplace Park.
 
The two-loop run course took athletes through the historic East Side of Providence, tree-lined Blackstone Boulevard, Brown University campus and downtown Providence's business district. The race finished with a backdrop of the State Capitol and Providence Place Mall.
