Friars Fall Short at Boston College 88-86

The Providence Friars had their first real road test of the season Wednesday night. And while PC did not ace the test, they didn’t fail it either. The Friars rally fell short in the end as they lost at Boston College 88-86.

The Friars never led in this one and found themselves down by 11 at halftime, 42-31. They trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half, but PC staged a furious rally.

Providence got to within two with 1:30 to go and again with under a minute to play. But Vincent Council’s three from half court hit the backboard and the rim at the buzzer cutting their comeback short.

Providence was led once again by Marshon Brooks who scored 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Council had another solid game with 13 points and 9 assists.

Boston College, who played without suspended forward Courtney Dunn (violation of team rules), was led by Reggie Jackson’s 27 points. Josh Southern had 16 points and 9 rebounds while Joe Trapani chipped in with 14 points and 9 boards.

The win improves BC to (7-2) and drops PC to (9-2).

Next up for the Friars is Alabama at the Dunk on Saturday at 2pm.
