Former New England Patriot Vince Wilfork is retiring from the NFL.
Wilfork made the announcement via his Twitter account, adding that he would hold a “farewell tailgate” party before the Patriots season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 7 at Gillette Stadium.

Wilfork was drafted by the Patriots 21st overall in 2004 and won two Super Bowls with the team, the last one coming in 2014 when the Patriots defeated the Seahawks 28-24 in Arizona.
While with the Patriots, Wilfork made five Pro Bowls and selected as an All-Pro five times.
Wilfork played the last two seasons with the Houston Texans.
Wilfork recorded 559 tackles, 16 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions in 189 regular-season games.
Vince Wilfork has retired. He'll be eligible for the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2021.
