Fire Damages PC Coach’s House

Wednesday, January 08, 2014

A small fire at the home of Providence College men's basketball coach Ed Cooley damaged his East Greenwich home and has displaced him and his family.

Published reports say that fire officials responded to a fire at Cooley's home Tuesday night.  They say the blaze was in a second floor bathroom and left both smoke and water damage to the house.

According to ESPN, Cooley said that there was significant damage to the house and that he and his family have had to temporarily vacate the premises and move to a nearby hotel.

Providence College has not released a statement regarding the incident.

Cooley's Friars have a big game tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The Georgetown Hoyas come to town for a 7pm match-up with PC. Georgetown is off to a 2-0 start in Big East play while the Friars have struggled to an 0-2 start in the conference.
