Celtics’ Rajon Rondo Tears ACL

Sunday, January 27, 2013

The Celtics star guard is out for the year. Rajon Rondo has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season.

The Celtics are in the midst of a season long losing streak. Rondo's knee was injured Friday night in the overtime loss versus Atlanta.

The injury was confirmed by the Celtics at about 2:30 pm on Sunday.

Official Statement from the Boston Celtics: Rajon Rondo is expected to miss the rest of the season with a torn right ACL after hyperextending his right knee.

Rondo was injured in Friday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks. He went through warm-ups on Sunday at TD Garden but was a late scratch from the game vs. Miami and instead underwent an MRI at New England Baptist Hospital. Courtney Lee started in his place at point guard.

The Celtics have yet to determine a date for his surgery.
