All good things do come to an end.  And unfortunately for the Bryant Bulldogs, the end came Saturday.

After loading the bases with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, a fly ball to right field turned into a game-ending double play...and the Bryant baseball team lost a heartbreaking 2-1 decision in 10 innings to SE Louisiana Saturday in Baton Rouge, LA.  With the loss, the NEC champion Bulldogs were eliminated from the NCAA Regional tournament, and end their season at 42-16.

Trailing by a run in the 10th, Dan Cellucci doubled and Carl Anderson followed with a single to put runners on the corners with no outs.  After a strikeout and an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out, sophomore AJ Zarozny lofted a fly ball to medium right field. SE Louisiana's Andrew Godbold made the catch and then threw a strike to the plate to nab Cellucci and end the game.  With the fly out, the Bulldogs finished 1-for-16 with runners in scoring position on Saturday.

Lost in the late-game drama was the stellar outing from one of Bryant's greatest pitchers, senior Craig Schlitter. In what was his final start in a Bulldog uniform, Schlitter was dominant over seven innings, allowing an unearned run on just six hits while striking out one and issuing one walk.

Including Bryant's opening 3-2, 10-inning loss Friday night to the Houston Cougars, in two NCAA tournament games the Bryant pitching staff allowed just one earned run, pitching to a 0.46 ERA. Both Anderson (5-for-10) and John Mullen (4-for-8) hit .500 and Cellucci finished 3-for-8 at the plate.
