Bryant Bulldog basketball continues its historic season

Sunday, March 17, 2013

In a season of firsts for the Bryant Bulldog basketball program, you can add another first to the list.

The Bulldogs have accepted a bid to play in the 2013 College Basketball Invitational, and will face the Richmond Spiders of the Atlantic-10 Wednesday night at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield.

Bryant finished the season 19-11, 12-6 in the Northeast Conference, their first season as a full-fledged member in Division I.  They lost in the quarterfinal round of the NEC post-season tournament to Mount St. Mary's on March 6, 75-69.

Should the Bulldogs advance past Richmond in the 16-team event, they would face the winner of Tulsa and Wright State (@Wright State).  Those teams are also playing on Wednesday night.  The CBI re-brackets the tournament after the quarterfinal round, with games played at campus arenas.  The championship is a best-of-three series between the two finalists, again played at campus sites.

The Pittsburgh Panthers of the Big East won the CBI last season.
