Bryant, Brown and URI Hit the Road Looking For Wins
Saturday, September 26, 2015
Quiet week in Rhode Island for college football as all three local teams are on the road. URI visits Maine, Brown takes on Ivy League rival Harvard and Bryant has the biggest game of the three as they visit #1 Coastal Carolina. Here is a preview of the games.
Bryant at #1 Coastal Carolina, 6 p.m. kickoff
The Bryant University Bulldogs (2-0) visit South Carolina to take on the number one ranked team in the FCS Coaches' Poll, (3-0)Coastal Carolina. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

For the Bulldogs to get the win, their defense is going to have to continue to play well. In the first two games of the season, they have only given up 9.5 points per game and are ranked third nationally in scoring defense and fourth in red zone defense.
The Chanticleers have one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Alex Ross who has completed 70 percent of his passes so far this season. Running back De'Angelo Henderson is in the top five nationally, averaging 132 rushing yards per game.
On the offensive side of the ball, Bryant can't turn the ball over and give Coastal Carolina extra possessions. Quarterback Dalton Easton will need a big game coming off of a big game that he had against Brown in which he threw for 309 yards.
This is obviously a huge early season test for Bryant on the road.
Brown at #25 Harvard at Harvard Stadium, 7 p.m. kickoff
The Brown University Bears (0-1) visit Ivy League rival #25 (1-0)Harvard under the lights at Harvard Stadium. This is the 16th straight season the schools have played each other. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on Fox College Sports.
The Bears have lost to Harvard four straight seasons and to pull off the upset, the biggest thing they need to do is hold onto the ball. Las week against Bryant, Brown turned the ball over five times, four of which came in the he red zone.
Other than the turnovers, Brown quarterback Marcus Fuller had a big game last week, throwing for over 403 yards. Brown is going to need Fuller to do something similar against Harvard.
The Crimson are ranked #25 in the country coming off of a 41-10 win over URI last week. Harvard quarterback Scott Hosch threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns.
Harvard has won 15 straight games dating back to last season.
This would be a huge bounce back win for Brown if they can pull off the upset on the road.
URI at Maine, 3:30 p.m. kickoff
The University of Rhode Island Rams (0-3,0-1) visit (0-2) Maine today at 3:30 p.m. as both teams will be looking to get into the win column.
URI and Maine have met 93 times prior to today and the Rams are 34-56-3 against the Black Bears. Maine has won the last eight games in the series.
This game will be a battle of struggling offenses and struggling defenses which means its either going to be really low scoring or high scoring.
Offensively, URI has only scored 14 points in three games and come into this game averaging 5.7 points per game. Meanwhile, the Black Bears are averaging five points per game and only 193 total yards per game.
On the defensive side of the ball, URI is giving up 41 points per game while Maine is giving up 31 points per game.
For the Rams, given the above stats, get on the board early, touchdown or field goal. An early score will be a big advantage in this game.
