Bryant Baseball’s Season Comes to Close With Loss to William & Mary

The Bryant University baseball team fell 4-3 to William & Mary and were eliminated fro the NCAA Tournament on Saturday morning in Charlottesville. 

The Game

The game was scoreless after 2 1/2 innings but William & Mary busted it open in the bottom of the third by scoring three runs.

First it was Zach Pearson who doubled to get himself on base and advanced to third on the next play. That put him in position to score when Ryder Miconi doubled to right field to give the Tribe a 1-0 lead. 

Following that, Cullen large singled to left scoring Miconi and he himself would score on a single by Hunter Smith, two batters later. 

Bulldogs Fight Back

Bryant got themselves back into the game in the top of the 4th when Robby Rinn hit a home run to cut William & Mary's lead to 3-1. 

The Bulldogs ten trailed 4-1 in the 7th when Zach Wood hit a home run to get Bryant within two, and in the 8th Buck McCarthy picked up an RBI on a sac fly to Bryant within one. 

However, it was not enough as the Bulldogs could not push another run across in the 9th. 

Bryant's Historic Season 

The Bulldogs finish the year with a school record 47 wins and inside the top 20  teams in the country. 

They also won the Northeast Conference championship.
