Brown University Unveils 2012-2013 Men’s Basketball Schedule

Brown University has released its men’s basketball schedule for the 2012-2013 season and the Mike Martin era will begin on Sunday, November 11th at the University of Binghamton.

The Bears’ schedule includes local match-up’s with Bryant (home 11/21), PC (home 12/28) and URI (away 1/4/13). In addition to playing the Friars out of the Big East, Brown will travel to face another Big East team when they visit Notre Dame on December 8th. They also visit Northwestern out of the Big Ten on December 23rd.

Brown’s first three games of the season are on the road as they follow up the Binghamton trip with games at Central Connecticut and Maine. 15 of the Bears’ 28 games will be played away from home.

Brown will also play a division three opponent in Daniel Webster at the Pizzitola Sports Center on January 12, 2013. The Eagles are coached by former Dartmouth head coach Dave Faucher.

Brown’s first-year head coach Mike Martin is excited about the upcoming schedule. "We’re extremely excited about the challenges that await us this season,” said Martin. “Our non-conference schedule will prepare us well for what should be another extremely competitive Ivy League. The opportunity for our group to play Providence College in our gym will be a special night for us and should prove to be a tremendous environment in the Pizzitola Sports Center. In addition, games against Notre Dame and Northwestern in the Midwest will be great for our Chicago natives to play in front of friends and family."

Brown does have the unenviable task of playing 5 of its first 6 Ivy League games on the road.
