Thursday, August 22, 2013

One by one, more than 100 Brown football players showed up at the Olney Margolies Athletic Center on the east side of Providence Thursday to check in for pre season camp.  They showed up in the Brown football office to make their presence known, took physical exams and met as a team later in the day.  Friday they will go through the usual battery of tests on the field and in the weight room before their first official practice on Saturday.

QB Patrick Donnelly (left) and WR Tellef Lundevall at Brown for physicals Thursday. The two hope to team up for a big season in 2013.

To a man, all of them seem excited, yet focused on the 2013 season which is just around the corner.  While they may have been picked to finish third in the Ivy League's preseason poll, this team knows that it is capable of better than that.  But they will have to work hard and play well to bring a fifth Ivy League championship to Brown this fall.

This Bears' football team returns lots of experienced players at many positions, including quarterback where senior Patrick Donnelly will run the offense.  Donnelly's go-to guy may very well be fellow senior Tellef Lundevall once again this season.  Last season the two connected a team-high 72 times for 718 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Defensively, senior defensive end Michael Yules is looking to build on a terrific junior campaign that saw him register a team-high 6.5 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss.

On special teams, the sure-footed Alexander Norocea returns for his senior year after an All-Ivy season as a junior.
