The Brown Bears men's basketball team (7-14, 2-5 Ivy) fell 79-73 to (10-13, 2-5 Ivy) Harvard on Friday night in Boston. The Bears have now dropped two straight games. 

Unable to Hold On

Brown led 43-39 with 14:23 to play after a JR Hobbie three-pointer was good.

However, Harvard would proceed to go on a 10-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 49-45 lead.

The lead was Harvard's first since leading 28-27 in the first half. 

Trying to Battle Back 

On Brown's next possession, Steven Spieth would convert on a three to get the Bears back within one, 49-48, but Brown would never get that close again. 

Harvard would respond with a 6-0 run to go up 55-48 with 8:24 to play and managed to keep it a two possession game for the majority of the half. 

The Bears got within three twice, but each time the Crimson would convert on the other end to extend the lead. 

Brown led 33-28 at the half before being outscored 51-40 in the second

The Leaders 

Tavon Blackmon led Brown with 19 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field while dishing out 6 assists and grabbing 2 rebounds. However, Blackmon had 9 of Brown's 13 turnovers. 

Obi Okolie followed up with 14 points of his own. 

Next up 

Brown will look to bounce back tonight when they visit Dartmouth. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.

Cedric Kuakumensah

Cedric Kuakumensah got into foul trouble in the first half and only played two minutes in the half. 

Steven Spieth also picked up two fouls in the first half but played 11 minutes. 

For the game, Kuakumensah ended up playing 19 minutes and netting 6 points while pulling down 5 rebounds.

Free Throws

Free throws proved costly for Brown who could not hold on to their second half lead. 

Brown was 21of 32 from the charity stripe translating to 65.6% while Harvard was not that much better at 24 of 34 for 70%. Of course, Harvard won the game.

Tavon Blackmon

Tavon Blackmon led Brown with 19 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Blackmon also dished out 6 assists and grabbed 2 rebounds. 

However, Blackmon had 9 of the teams 13 turnovers, which resulted in 20 Harvard points. 

The Bears had 15 points off of 11 Harvard turnovers.

Second Chance Points

The Crimson grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the game and turned it into 21 second chance points. 

Meanwhile, Brown grabbed 11 offensive boards but only managed 11 points out of it.

51 Points

Brown coach Mike Martin can't be happy with the defense in the second half after Harvard dropped 51 points on the Bears, outscoring Brown 51-40 in the half. 

This comes after the Crimson only managed 28 points in the first half. 

The Crimson shot 41% from the field in the game and converted on 14 of 30 field goal attempts in the second half. Of the 14 makes, 6 of them were threes.
