Providence College sophomore basketball star Kris Dunn will have surgery in the next several weeks to repair an injured shoulder and he will miss the remainder of the season, Friars Head Coach Ed Cooley announced Wednesday in a written statement to the press.
Dunn injured the shoulder in an exhibition game on November 2nd against Rhode Island College and missed the first 3 games of the regular season. The projected starting point guard returned for 4 games before re-aggrevating the injury.

If approved, Dunn will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2014-15 season.
Dunn averaged 5.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last season as a freshman, and was poised to become a focal point of the team's offensive attack this season before his injury. Dunn missed the first 9 games last season after having surgery on his shoulder in July of 2012.
Cooley is already looking forward to having Dunn back next season.
“We are looking forward to assisting Kris as he recovers from his surgery,” Cooley said. “His health and well-being are our primary concern. There is no question that he will rebound from this and continue to improve as a basketball player. We are confident that Kris will be a key member of our team in 2014-15.”
