Junior defender Dylan Remick scored his first goal of the 2011 season, and he sure picked the right time to make it count.  Remick's goal at the 47:47 mark gave the Brown men's soccer team (12-4-3) a 1-0 edge over the ninth seeded St. John's Red Storm (14-7-2) at Berlson Stadium, and it eventually became the game-winner to advance the Bears into the Sweet 16 for the second straight year.

Meanwhile, the Providence College men's soccer team rallied but fell short at UC Santa Barbara, 3-2, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, CA. With the win, UCSB (15-6-1) will travel to face Creighton on Sunday, November 27 in the third round. The Friars were playing in their sixth NCAA Tournament (fifth in the last seven years), and end the season at 11-8-1.

The Bears, who had just a 1-4-2 record against the Red Storm heading into Sunday, including an 0-2 record in NCAA Tournament action, put on a spectacular performance in front of a thunderous Red Storm crowd. Despite St. John's out-shooting Brown 17-9, and leading 5-3 in corner kicks, Brown's defense was able to hold off a very dangerous offense that averages 1.45 goals per game.  Junior goalkeeper Sam Kernan-Schloss recorded his ninth shutout and improved his record to 9-2-3 on the year.

The Bears will now match-up against St. Mary's (CA) on Sunday, November 27.  The time and place for the Sweet 16 match will be released soon.
