#9 Butler Tops URI 75-68

Saturday, February 02, 2013

If this year's URI men's basketball team can battle 9th-ranked Butler down to the wire on the road as they did on Saturday, imagine what Dan Hurley's squad will be able to do once he adds more talent to the roster.

The Rhody Rams led the Bulldogs 32-30 at halftime, trailed by as many as 13 points with just over 5 mintes to play before falling by 8.

Nikola Malesevic score 18 and was one of 3 Rams in double figures.  Mike Powell and Xavier Munford each had 14.

Rontel Clarke led Butler with 23.

Rhody shot 40% (20-50) from tjhe field, 36% (4-11) from three and 86% (24-28) from the free throw line.  The were outrebounded 32-25 by the Bulldogs.

The loss drops the Rams to (6-14) and (1-6) in the Atlantic Ten.  They's take on the UMass Minutemen in Amherst Wednesday night at 7pm.
