The New England Patriots (8-0) defeated the (3-5) Washington Redskins 27-10 on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots have now defeated Washington three straight times and move to 8-0 for the second time in franchise history.

After receiving the opeing kickoff, the Patriots offense went on a 13 play, 84 yad drive that ended with a Tom Brady eight yard touchdown pass to Julian Edelman. The touchdown catch was Edelman's seventh of the season, a career high. New England was up 7-0 after a Gostkowski kick.

Two offensive possessions later, the Patriots struck again, this time in the form of LeGarrette Blount, who ran it in from five yards out to put the Patriots up 14-0 after a Gostkowski extra point.

The Patriots would lead 17-3 at the half and add a field goal and Brandon Bolden touchdown catch in the second to cruise to a victory.

Next up

The Patriots hit the road for a game with the New York Giants on Sunday, November 15th at Metlife Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m.

Dion Lewis

Dion Lewis went down in the third quarter, pretty much untouched, and stayed down.

Lewis left the game with a knee injury and did not return, though did walk off the field under his own power.

In one previous game without Lewis, the Patriots offense struggled. If Lewis is out for any significant amount of time that could be a huge loss for the Patriots.

Bryan Stork

Bryan Stork returned to the team after being put on the injured reserve with designation to return list. The Patriots kept rookie David Andrews at center and Stork saw time at guard and tackle.

Brandon LaFell

A couple of games ago, Brandon LaFell returned to the lineup for the first time and had several drops. He gave himself and F after the game.

It looks like LaFell is back on track as he had over 100 yards receiving on five receptions against Washington.

Chandler Jones

Chandler Jones added another sack in this game to give him 9.5 sacks on the season, that leads the league.

Coming into this season, with the losses the Patriots defense suffered in the off season, they needed Chandler Jones to step up and become more consistant and that is what he has done.

Running Game

The Patriots had an opportunity to use the running game against the Redskins and they did so and it was effective.

LeGarrette Blount had one of his better games of the season running for 129 yards and a touchdown and also had a career high 29 carries. Blount averaged nearly five yards per carry.
