In the second half, the Friars built their lead back to 15 points, 45-30, with 17:24 to play but NJIT would crawl back to within seven.

"I thought we showed a lot of our inexperience during the game, every time we stretched it to double digits, I thought we made a mental mistake, whether it was a turnover, a missed free throw, a  lack of communication," said Cooley.

Providence would hit their free throws down the stretch and hold on for the win.
