NC State transfer headed to Providence

He may not be the coveted big man the Friars have been looking for, but it's a good "get," anyway.
Tyler Harris, a 6-8 forward from Dix Hills, NY announced his decision to attend Providence College via Twitter Thursday afternoon, and will enroll at PC for the fall. Having played his freshman season at North Carolina State, Harris will have three years of eligibility for the Friars, starting in 2013-14.
Harris played in 19 games for the Wolfpack this past season, starting three...and the only freshman to earn a start during the year. He averaged just 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, and perhaps didn't quite fit with 1st-year coach Mark Gottfried's plans. Harris was ranked as the No. 23 power forward by Scout.com coming out of St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey, and Rivals.com rated Harris as the No. 33 power forward and 133rd ranked player nationally.

He played for former Duke standout Roshown McCloud while at St. Benedict's, and comes from quite the basketball family. His brother Tobias played at Tennessee, was drafted by Charlotte in 2011 and played with the Milwaukee Bucks, while his sister Tesia is on the team at St. John's.
Harris joins transfers Sidiki Johnson (6-9, Arizona) and Carson Desrosiers (7-0, Wake Forest) as newcomers into Ed Cooley's program, with Johnson still scheduled to be eligible for the second semester next season. PC remains in the hunt for a couple of center prospects who could enroll this fall and be eligible immediately, but there is no timetable on their decisions.
