Give me a break!!! Everyone knows Salvatore, Solomon and Narducci are as thick as thieves. This investigation will amount to a big fat nothing. The Council leadership all fought hard to keep the Birch Labor Camp open and running! We even know that the Igliozzi family was in this up to their neck. More smoke and mirrors !!!

This guys dangerous and sloppy practices go back more than twenty years, when he owned the no defunct Pawtuxet Valley Pharmacy (and owed his creditors a whooping 4.5 million dollars when it went into receivership).

His licence should have been revoked years ago

But Pearl, it has the PPAC, LUPO's and all those restaurants that only Providence residents can go to.

While living in Chicago if I went south out of my building it was a war zone. If I went north up the street it was a gay neighborhood. I always parked North of my street. I always came home after 10:00 at night so it would be tough to find parking in the "gay" safe(er) area. Not so hard south of my apartment. But the few blocks I had to walk were always tense. When the gay community starts to move into an area its time to invest in real estate! Home values are going to go up.

This has got to be the biggest piece of trash that this website generates. GolocalPROV will list PROV as one of the best cities in the state. Highest crime rate, most corruption, lowest test scores, highest murder rate, one of the highest rates of illegal immigration.....yet, it's a wonderful place to live.
Way to go, Golocalcrap.com.

The Riverfront in Pawtucket is just ripe for the picking. With the bridgework on Rt 95 complete, it seems like the time to plan some redevelopement of the open spaces that are so accessible to interstate travel.

From: RI Sales Tax Repeal Benefits Exaggerated—URI Economist

in Politics

here is what i meant to say in english....I apologize for the above

Everyone wins with eliminating the sales tax in Rhode island ,except for two groups. Most notably and first ,the Politicians who need to spend money in order to stay in office and second those many inefficient departments of government that will inevitably come under increasing scrutiny with tighter spending due to less revenues. That's a good thing.
On the other hand and most importantly lower taxes stimulates growth and jobs. Those who benefit immediately would be the the poor as they would be relieved of a regressive tax and small businesses, which would boom, more jobs will be created and virtually everyone would have more money in their own pocket rather than at the statehouse. A free market solution that puts money in the individuals pocket and rightly questions the corrupt system of government that produces $200,000 dollar a year janitors should be so obvious. Unfortunately Mr Lardaro seems to be defending continued government spending. Maybe he thinks Government has done a more efficient job for Rhode Islanders benefit than citizens would do with their own money decisions. Mr Lardaro has had decades to come up with any model or dynamic tax models that could show something different than what the findings of Center for Freedom and Prosperity have shown.Rather than play politics I would sure welcome his impartial findings but they have been non existent so far.

Little Compton #1 in safety and #1 in economic condition, but comes in at #21 because its expensive #35 on affordability. Compile the statistics without affordability and you would get a much better picture of the towns that people would most like to live in. And to me the places people most want to live would be a much more accurate list of Rhode Islands "greatest city". I live in Warwick and I expect we will do well because its affordable to live here and safe. But the schools are mediocre, were in a population decline, have a shrinking corporate tax base, we have out of control pensions that are sucking up more and more of the cities budget every year. Unless your rich and live on the water, Warwick is not in good shape. You want to see which cities are the greatest look at home values in the last ten years. Which cities held their value the best and which communities bounced back the most and quickest.

Born and raised there....you can just feel the synergy in the city - new leadership, dedicated volunteers, like Miriam and her husband, and many others, and the artists are everywhere...come on, little engine that could - you can do it!

I live in CF. I can walk to the Gamm, the Modern Diner, Rasoi; it's less than a 15 minute drive to downtowm Prov, Thayer St and Wickendon St. The beach is 45 minutes, Aun Carries about the same... And Boston? Either on 95 or by train, it's closer for us than almost anywhere else in RI. How does all that add in to the ranking? I see these rankings as totally arbitrary, and just self-satisfying for the residents of the chosen few.

I agree with Sonny. Why is St Anns Arts and Cultural Center not there? I'd say that it should be, and take the place of that option of "RI-style chicken dinners". The vote already shows few care for them. :D
