Nice work yourself, EJ. Good points. How about this? Think the NBA has a credibility issue NOW? Refs' integrity in question, owners in collusion, and only a few teams make any serious money, or win titles. They've got troubles. Yes to Pujols and the DH, no doubt. From: Tom Sgouros: Short Takes

Why? Amazon just started a "price comparison" premium program. They pay money to people who will go into a store and use their cell phone to scan prices for them and then leave without buying anything.fyi..this has been done in supermarkets for the last 40 years...

I'm not Catholic and have certainly disagreed with the Bishop's stand on illegal immigration, but he has a right to speak up on this issue. If it were any other "minority"religion or ethnic group,no one would dare question the propriety of a "leader" speaking out.
Chafee seems to think because Christians are an overwhelming majority it's okay to show purposeful disrespect to them.
Chafee is a sick, weird individual.Imagine three more years of this bizarre nonsense.
Thanks a lot Ken Block. You had no chance to win,but guaranteed this disaster.

Keep in mind that RI gets 60% of the take. It is an Occupy Movement dream... 60% that goes back into the coffers to fund more government programs instead of lining the pockets of Harrahs, Sands, and the like. It doesn't follow the economic model where the local community gets 10% and the corporations get $$$$$$. So bring it all on, table games, sports wagering, bingo...Rhode Island gets more money to spend, spend, spend...From: NEW: Chafee Says State Will Waive Policies for Occupy Movement

@Drago-nothing at all,but since you seemed to be cheerleading for him,I thought I'd bring it up.His waiver for the "Occupy"group is no problem as long as he extends it to any group requesting a similar consideration, and if not ,then I'm against it.

What is that we are paying the police departments in those communities to do? If their are incidents of gun violence on campus, then the local and state police are the only organizations that should be permitted to draw weapons. There are enough guns floating around. And they are always used to kill. Remember that. When we started shooting in Iraq, it was not to wound or scare the bad guys, it was to kill them. Now some nutter, right-wind republican wants security guards to carry guns. Parents, beware. Sgouros-seriously,no child should be buying OTC drugs without a parent knowing.OTC drugs are not all safe(I can't take Ibuprofen)and they can have serious interactions with prescription drugs, sometimes fatal.
I have no beef with Plan B,but parents should be aware of all medical issues, including meds, relating to minors(emergency intervention excepted)because it's within their purview as parents.
Interestingly, abortion is the only elective surgical procedure available to minors without parental notification,at least in some states.Abortion is not a pedicure, but try telling that to the Sgorous' of this world.

Amazon has the best customer service in the world. They have good prices and free shipping on most orders over $25(not everything meaning larger items)and they have an amazing selection.
Sgorous needs to find out what industrial spying really is.It is the theft of proprietary information-not price comparison.Prices are open information-the fact that someone at Amazon figured this out is to their credit.
Sgouros has now become a lawyer in addition to an economist.
He better stick to his "more taxes"mantra.

i was against the casino years ago... i never thought the industry would grow as big as it has. i wqs wrong... now that massachusetts will get their cainos, ri has no choice.btw....look for twin rivers to come crying to the state house in a few years and asking for a bigger % of the revenues.
the gross will go down and then the ri share of the gross will also have to be cut for the place to survive.
and...if you really wnat to know what the impact will be, try interviewing anybody that owned a restaurant in RI when foxwoods openned. the falloff in sales was immediate and never really cameback.

the only thing more pathetic than the complete lack of accomplishments of this group is the excess of media attention for this nonevent.if their goal was to change something, anything...they failed miserably. In fact, they actually hurt their cause because they were such a poorly orgainized group, the 1% can claim victory and say that the 1% have no opposition.
but i really can't blame the participants, many of whom are chronically homeless, have health issues, etc...they were destined to fail from the beginning.....they were a creation of the liberal media and not much more.

Nice work, John.If I may add:
The NCAA is a shameful coterie of meddlers whose disbanding would greatly benefit college sports across the board.
The Big East, unhappily, did what it had to do. But picking up Dallas, Houston and Orlando is great news for a conference founded on the bedrock of television viewership.
The NBA is a disgrace. League officials should scour their offices to see where that last shred of integrity went.
Do you suppose the late-career option of designated hitter might have weighed on Albert Pujols' decision to join the Angels? Designated hitter is the rule from Little League to the American League to Japan, but not the National League. Thanks for your leadership, Bud Selig.
Why has no one challenged the NFL's acquiescence to the Colts quitting this year, beginning with game one? If a player refused to give his best effort there would be no end to the outcry. When 53 players refuse to give their best effort it's business as usual.
For a charter member of the NFL -- Green Bay, a team owned by its fans -- to go 19-0 would be a great distinction.
The next success Charlie Weiss has since leaving the Patriots will be his first.
Oklahoma State could have made a very persuasive case as the better choice than Alabama to compete for the national championship. The Oklahoma State women's basketball coach and an assistant were killed in a plane crash Nov. 17. The Cowboys already were in Ames, Iowa, preparing for the Iowa State game, which they lost in double overtime 37-31. A little sympathy for having to deal with that tragedy could have offset Alabama's claim to being No. 2 in BCS standings. Now we get to see LSU-Alabama again. Yawn.
