Only in RI? I'm sorry what are all these other states that teach religion in schools? Gary Arnold- literally every religion also has its parades in RI as well as being part of non-denominational parades. What in the world are you talking about!? Why does having a parade mean forcing your beliefs on someone? The article said 25000 attendees that's 2% of Rhode Islanders who all CHOSE to be there. What 10 legislators marched in this parade? Every one of them says a Christian prayer before every single legislative session. What about this small celebration among supporters is pushing a group's beliefs upon you?

"Seems like a fair and balanced way of doing business for those you serve, make that for those that pay you off to vote their way without any forethought about the citizens of RI.
There is NO place in politics for lobbyists, this has been known for decades and the pols just can't give fair and balanced decisions.
Only way to change is in November, vote them out."

Are they at it again with this big pile of doggie steam-dump called "Global Warming". They never quit. Getting caught in the massage parlors didn't stop algore, did it? Nope.

Rhode Island warmed but adjacent states didn't? My my. Remarkable. Is there an invisible thermal shield which surrounds Rhode Island, to prevent neighboring states from sharing the heat?

Spare us this. Please. Long Island, NY, actually has two distinct climates, the north shore climate and the south shore climate. Are citizens aware of that? It's why one side of the island is considered the wine country, flush with vineyards, while the other side is not.

Martha's Vineyard is known to be warmer than the rest of Massachusetts. At one time, fourth graders were taught the reasons.

But today, with PC Junk Science in high dudgeon, that simply will not do.

Ocean acidification? The greatest problem to do with acidification is one whose effects are coming into full bloom today. During the late 60s thru the mid 70s, many who are in positions of power and influence presently, at that time freely indulged in quite a bit of acid.

Though they scoffed at clinicians who warned of long lingering effects, seems the clinicians were downright prophetic.

It's Seymore. Seymour is the former Pats DE. Is there a worst sight than wannabee Lance Armstrongs riding bikes with their junk showing. A bike ride for MS is not the tour de France. No need for the nut huggers. These are the same guys that wear golf shoes when they attend PGA events. They're the absolute worst human beings.

This is ridiculous. I wish Principe, Sanchez and crew would focus more on improving the lives of city residents and less time on challenging the "imagined" power of the Council leadership. There's power when there are ideas. When are these guys going to get a club? I swear this club being contrarian for power's sake and not for the good of the city. Regardless of who's finance chairman, I would hope that everyone's working together to address the most pressing issues facing the city in real time: mounting crime, rising youth unemployment and the decreased hours of our recreational centers. have these guys looked outside? the kids are out on the street, bored and unengaged and their fighting over who may or may not be chairman? notably, sanchez and correia represent some of the most diverse and troubled areas in the city ... just some more poverty pimps if you ask me ...

Phil Seymour is indeed still living in RI and looking at options as JR noted. He also was out on the road joining close to 1000 riders (including myself) raising money for MS in the Bike MS 150 Ride the Rhode this past weekend. 154 miles of pure fun (well, maybe a little bit of pain but well worth it). And he is a very nice person who is easy to talk to. I wish him well in the future.

Christina, We have helped her with a very generous public education. An education that was stolen from a child who's parents tried to get to America the right way, and were refused a visa.
I wish her luck, but if we had a proper immigration policy we wouldn't have people coming here and using services that are for people here legally. I'm sure she'll do fine. She seems to be an intelligent, ambitous young lady. I'm not so certain about the young girl who is jut as talented, whose family taught her the importance of following and respecting the law.

Are her parents here illegaly? Never a mention of that.

in News

Some of these comments are very sad and the people writing them are so hateful and bigoted for likely no good or legitimate reason.

The daytime festivities weren't even in downtown (they were over on South Water Street on the East side) and the parade didn't even go through or near Kennedy Plaza - nice try though. Blame that on the usual heterosexual crowd that makes up the majority of the users of Kennedy Plaza. That parade went down all of about 3 streets, and those streets weren't any dirtier than they are when any other parade comes through the city.

If you want to know what the true disgrace is in Providence, it's the fact that gay people seem to know how follow the law in public, but every other weekend, when the heterosexual clubs get out, we have stabbings, shootings, street fights, and other extreme violence. It only happens outside the "straight" bars and clubs. That's what's truly a disgrace.

What makes you assume that they have not applied for citizenship? Have you any idea how long it takes? Why should we help kids like Silvia? Because ultimately, we are not Rhode Islanders or Americans, we are all citizens of the world. The economies are linked, the scientific discoveries are linked, we are not completely separate. My grandparents came from Italy and Ireland. My grandfather had to drop out of school in the 6th grade to work in the mills to support his family. He would want to see Silvia have the chance to go to college here if she wants. One day, Silvia could be the doctor that discovers a cure for the illness about to kill your mother, father, brother, sister or child. That's why we should care.....

Can anyone tell me why these people that want to stay in the USA are not applying for citizenship? As a kid you would expect that would be a priority so when they have arrived at the age of college or not they would be in line if not already a citizen.
Why are we always looking for ways to serve others when we cannot take care of our own.

Thank you insurance carriers for your gracious offering to cover these added expenses. You did offer to cover these costs, didn't you?

I know you know RI will fork up the additional costs at the tax cost to the citizens.

Yes, in RI you can be open and push your thoughts, actions and beliefs on anyone, even if they don't like it. That is of course not the case for religion in schools where we have to replace mentions of GOD as something else but the good news we can teach our kids that being gay is good, wholesome, proper and something everyone should embrace.
But not GOD, yes, only in RI.
