Thank you Dan, I appreciate the response. Enough said. CSR, the way to recognize a vanity campaign from a "not vanity campaign" is to ask "what is your message for your District?" If the message is a collection of distant Washington talking points, or a belief that only your personal attributes make you alone capable of doing the job, or you are fixated on one issue or set of issues only and run just to vent your views on that one set of issues, that's vanity. If the candidate develops a message for the District, about the district and that serves all the people of the district, that is a worthy candidacy. If you find that, support it. It's what I try for.

Donna - you should think outside the box for just a minute, and do the research and you'll understand - what I suggested is actually how a large percentage of non-borderline-bankrupt states actually operate.

You have would have 5 county fire departments in RI (instead of 40+ city/town versions) - one hierarchy in each county, one commissioner, and while it would leave the unions without the expensive and unnecessary hundreds of middle-ranking firefighters who would no longer be necessary due to elimination of management redundancy, you would save tens of millions in costs and have broad coverage overlaps between the town/city borders which would eliminate the need for any overtime to be paid since you could have "floaters" who "float where needed throughout the county. Yes, it's bad for the unions and their overtime, but fantastic for the taxpayers financially without any loss in quality of service or coverage. You could easily do the same with police and schools as well.

Also - most major city police departments and fire departments have cities and coverage areas that are as big or bigger than this entire state, and they survive just fine without all of the financial "fat" we have in out tiny town/city-based systems and do it for a fraction of the money we spend.

Fact: we pay double what the national average for our fire protection. Statistically it's not anywhere close to being even remotely worth it - more people aren't dying in fires in states who spend half what we don and response time isn't longer in states that pay half what we do. We're getting screwed over by our own system, and it's insane that we've allowed the problem to perpetuate for as long as we have.

People need to drop the "tax tax tax spend spend spend" mindset and instead do what's best for the taxpayers (rich and middle class and poor) and the businesses who can barely afford to sustain themselves in this state.

David Cicilline sees our senior citizens as nothing more or less than targets of opportunity. He lies to them, frightens them, promises the world to them and delivers nothing, and believes that he can buy their votes with pasta and posturing.

Given recent poll numbers, seniors have wised up to David Cicilline and his disgusting manipulations. They are turning to Anthony Gemma in droves and for good reason.

In Anthony Gemma, senior citizens see a true and honorable and effective champion.

In David Cicilline, senior citizens see a conniving little poseur who, like the grandson they never had and never wanted, in effect leans over their beds, places his lips against their ears, and demands to know, "Where's the money?"
