So O'Rourke gets 60 people to sign petition for him to stay. if i have my math correct that is approximately 135 who refused to sign.. There in lies the proof. YOU have no support.. and oh.. If you think the petition stinks of desperation SJO, that is my vomit in the corner. I will NEVER sign such a document. You should be fully ashamed of your sophmoric and classless antics.

Teachers have less power now than ever. School districts are micromanaged nowadays and would rather promote self-esteem and the misconception that everyone is going to college rather than competition and actually preparing some of them for what college will challenge them with. Schools have been 'reforming" now for over 20 years and are so much less effective now it's remarkable.

"Michael Riley –> Defeating Congressman Langevin will be a monumental task, but kudos to Michael Riley for at least showing he plans to spend money on the race. Riley is already on the radio and while he isn’t getting the same kind of attention Brendan Doherty is getting in the 1st District, his message is probably a bit more coherent at this point."

Which would be 1,000 times more coherent than the 75 tweets you do a day...

Anything to get a Doherty shot in, eh McGowan?

O'Rourke has his "clique" out extorting employees into signing a petition to have him remain their executive director. WHAT A COMPLETE AND UTTER JOKE. I signed it though. Get a DNA sample on that document. My DNA will be in the vomit on the upper left hand corner. YOU ARE A COMPLETE AND UTTER JOKE SJO. This reminds me of Vladmir Putin trying to hang in there in Russia.

ON "ABC-TV" DURING THE "NETWORK SPECIAL ON HEALTH CARE"..... OBAMA WAS ASKED:

"MR. PRESIDENT WILL YOU AND YOUR FAMILY GIVE UP YOUR CURRENT HEALTH CARE PROGRAM AND JOIN THE NEW 'UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM' THAT THE REST OF US WILL BE ON ????"

THERE WAS A STONEY SILENCE AS OBAMA IGNORED THE QUESTION AND CHOSE NOT TO ANSWER IT !!!

IN ADDITION, A NUMBER OF SENATORS WERE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS."WE WILL THINK ABOUT IT."

AND THEY DID. IT WAS LATER ANNOUNCED THAT THE "KENNEDY HEALTH CARE BILL" WAS WRITTEN INTO THE NEW HEALTH CARE REFORM INITIATIVE ENSURING THAT THAT CONGRESS WILL BE 100% EXEMPT!

SO, THIS GREAT NEW HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOOD FOR YOU AND I... IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR OBAMA, HIS FAMILY OR CONGRESS...??

ATTENTION GOLOCALPROV

RI now ranks #2 in Unemployment! Which means there are 48 other states where employment is BETTER than Rhode Island. We rank 50th in business Climate (dead last). We are near the top in the misery index. We rank as one of the worst place to retire. Shall I go on?

Why do you think this is true? Why are we near or at the bottom in every category? Because the Democrats have put us here with 75 years of absolute power and control.

So just keep doing what the Pro Jo did and continues to do. Just keep supporting the Democrats, and their anti-business policies and soon you will get to worry about your financial health like the rest of us.

If the Democrats continue, soon more companies will leave. That means less advertisers for you. So just keep up the great work of supporting their liberal policies and help lead to the demise of the entire state.

The only way to save our state is to have balance in the Statehouse. The Democrats have been running things and our cities are near the brink of bankruptcy. Anyone their getting it yet?

in News

The only devastation done in RI has been by Democrats! The Democrats have ruled the General Assembly for 75+ years. Look what they have done. We rank at or near the bottom in every category! Look what they have done in Providence. There is not 1 elected Republican in the leadership in Providence, all Democrats. Our leadership, all Democrats except for Linc Chafee, who is an Independent but acts like a liberal Democrat. All 4 elected to represent us in Washington, Democrats. Are you getting the picture. Where is Rhode Island ranked thanks to all of these Democrats? Rhode Island scores at or near the bottom in almost every key category. Let's give them full credit. They ALL need to go in November.

If any of the moronic bloggers can read, I would suggest a quick look at the recently published History of the Providence Authority. Even the illiterate fools calling for Mr. O'Rourke's resignation will be disgusted by the photos of the burned out, vile, slums of the Providence Housing Authority that existed before Steve took over in 1988. He has worked tirelessly to use every possible federal, state, and local program to improve the lives of the residents of the PHA communities. You ought to take a look at the uninhabitable slums in New Haven and New London that were created by inept Housing Authority Directors.

Wow, Deborah Gist is not "hot" because teachers don't like her... hmmm, so someone who comes into RI with fresh ideas - one of them being holding teachers accountable for their (lack of) performance, and because those same teachers have voted that she's unfavorable makes her not "hot". Give me a break, with a cherry on top.

No one has pointed out that the Housing Authority was one step from federal receivership before Mr. O'Rourke became Executive Director. Thousands of low-income residents now live in safe, decent and sanitary housing thanks to the innovative programs he has installed. Prior to 1988, the previous directors were inept, political hacks who handed burned out, uninhabitable slums to Mr.O'Rourke. I would be curious to see which political bag-men are now vying for his job; it won't take long for these fools to re-create the uninhabitable slum that was known as the Providence Housing Authority before Mr. O'Rourke singlehandedly turned it around.

Gotta agree with Bernie. People don't realize that schools run in secrecy and much of what goes on is never reported. The changing demographics, the unwillingness of most parents to become involved, poverty and the unwillingness to assimilate add to the woes. Public education in inner-cities is doomed to fail. You could fill inner-city schools with the best and brightest educators and the results would be the same. (Plus most would quit within a year). So sad to see the country I used to love turn out so horrible. And it's only going to get worse.

I am a transplant from Louisville KY and a U of L alumni class of 1987. College basketball is a way of life in Kentucky. There are no professional sports teams so we put all our energy into college sports. The Yum Center is a perfect example of this. U of L and UK distain is unlike any other. Here’s something that puts that into perspective. There is a store in Louisville called “The Neutral Zone” It features a line down the middle and RED U of L merchandise is to the left, BLUE UK merchandise is to the right. As least it was that way. When a store became vacant in the same strip mall the UK folks pulled their merchandise out and went into their own store. The two teams can’t even be in the same store. GO CARDS! BEAT UK!

Its not the unions. The more reform that's attempted, the worse the schools perform. Public schools in places like Providence need to copy what private schools charge $10K+ a year for....dress codes (uniforms), discipline, and tracking.
