It's too bad that Ri pols and union hacks bought into Obama's nonsense about "green jobs". What a canard! Let's hope this Solyndrafication of America is over.
And halt the ultra expensive Block Island Sound windmills too.
Here in Portsmouth, where the town purchased a Chinese made windmill, we are waiting for parts from somewhere to fix the dead windmill.

Dave, I'm not talking about that... talking about "The bill (H.R. 3606) will allow large companies with up to $1 billion in revenues per year to avoid financial transparency and auditing requirements." (passed by all Republicans in March that started this mess) I wish I had 1 billion dollars so I could have the edge... until then I depend on my vertically challenged Senator to make laws like we pay him to do.

"Kudos to Mayor Taveras and the City Council for saying they are committed to providing a much-need increase in transparency in city government. Of course, it’s one thing to say you’re committed to open government and another to actually show a little follow through."

Didn't David Cicilline campaign in 2002 with the promise that he would make Providence City government transparent?

Didn't David Cicilline campaign in 2010 on the success of his efforts to make Providence City government transparent?

Didn't David Cicilline in 2010 hide his mismanagement of City finances by restricting the City Council's access to records?

Hasn't David Cicilline, beginning in 2002 and continuing into 2012, continually lied about his actions as mayor and congressman?

If David Cicilline did not lie about making Providence City government transparent, why must Angel Taveras and the City Council take these actions now?

Just for the record John Robitaille was against the 38 Studios deal and felt that the EDC should have given 75 -$1 million loans to small businesses instead. After the EDC and the legislature approved it, he then got behind it to support it being successful.

The Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy is already demonstrating the huge benefits of the socio-economic integration you're asking for: Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln and Pawtucket kids all going to school together. 100% of elementary school kids proficient in reading on state assessments. 3rd highest middle school math scores in the state. And an incredibly healthy school culture with lots of family engagements across that socio-economic divide. We need a lot more of this!

For those of you who are NOT in the construction industry, "hazardous materials" is and has been a sham for the past 10 + years.

After working in commercial construction for over 30 years, working side by side with various hazardous waste abatement contractors, even THEY say there's no need for these various actions.

All it does is put a scare into the general population, forces a need for the federal government to pay for various abatement projects.

Oh yeah, and who is benefiting from these projects......that would be the construction unions. WHAT A SHOCK!!!!!

in Sports

Didn't Syracuse win 4 in a row one year in the BET then lose in the 1st round of the NCAA.
Even in 2011 when the BE sent 11 teams to the NCAA, only one other team besides UConn advanced to the Sweet 16. In 2010, the BE sent 8 teams to the NCAA... four of them were knocked out in the 1st round and 2 others in the 2nd round. I watch every game and some of those teams looked pretty spent to me.
UCOnn won the BE tournament as a 9 seed by beating #16 DePaul on the 1st day.
But John, I have no problems with teams 9-12 getting in because as we saw, the 9 team could beat anyone and that could happen in any given year, but its the 13-16 seeds. John, you can't be naive in thinking these teams have any kind of chance at all. Those 9-12 teams are probably all on the NCAA bubble heading into the BET so really want to build their resume (albeit slightly) by beating the lesser teams. The only way a 13-16 seed gets into the NCAA is by winning the tournament and that is just NOT happening. I am not naive enough to believe that. SORRY

Half truths always find a way of seeming like the whole story. US government, Under direction of Obama closed down (1)Car Dealers, and many people lost there jobs. Shrunk the size of GM and thousand of people lost there jobs. No company the government has touched has grown on their own with out continued tax-payer funding. Two examples; our local bus company, and the post office. Romney has shrunk three companies and grown about 75 other that have gone on to create tousand of jobs. Do your home work and write a complete story, with all the facts, not just some of them you favor. Ask the people who have their jobs if they like what Romney has done.

Since you went outside RI to mention Booker, why didn't you also mention Obama as having a bad week? Along with Booker, Deval Patrick, Ed Rendell, and Harold Ford criticized him for vilifying companies like Bain Capital as a campaign strategy, all the while soliciting campaign contributions from them. On top of that, the Pakistani doctor who gave us Bin laden is now imprisoned, the administration has given Hollywood access to information about the Bin Laden accomplishment to make a movie, and he barely won the democratic nomination while running unopposed in the state of kentucky.

Energy costs are up, but there isn't enough money available for these projects. The state needs to make it easier to go green. They should implement a program that offers financing thru the utility bill. The banks aren't lending. There would be a lot more "green jobs" if we could mortgage our meters.
