Assembly Members should pay on the same scale as everyone else. The same goes for all other benefits. Fair is fair and we should not have to carry them. If they do not like it there are plenty of others waiting in line for a crack at their jobs. We have to get this state solvent by any fair means! As private business people we have to pay our own way. Whose better than us? We are the job makers and if we all leave what happens to Rhode Island then?

Just once I would like to hear a member from an opposing party say " I don't like this part of the bill but, there are several good ideas contained in it that should be implemented and we should work together to get it done". That person would get my vote.

Our General Assembly members and other politicians get FREE health insurance paid for by the struggling RI taxpayer. Does anyone see anything wrong here???

Johnson & Wales is pretty crafty to ink a deal NOW, knowing, like death and taxes, the struggling municipalities will be back in short order for MORE. Almost like they're looking into a crystal ball and can clearly see the democrat/liberal way of running things will continue and the money problems will end up at their front door in no time at all.

And yet the Obama budget proposal was voted down 414-0. Yes folks you read that correctly. 414-0. So not even a single Democrat would go on record supporting their leader's own budget. Pretty sad really. If this were England that would be a no confidence vote and we would have a new Prime Minister by now. At least the Republicans have put out a plan. Democrats in congress? Crickets.

Perhaps the real answer to the medical care problem is too simple and unprofitable for the private sector that has the congress wrapped around its little finger. The USA is pretty low down in the medical care rankings by country. Copying the most successful countries health care systems seems like a good idea, but I don't see it happening because it takes away huge profits from the private sector who contributes millions to the political campaigns and no one is going to let that happen. The problem is solvable though because Americans are slowly wising up and they will eventually make congress pay a huge price politically in the long run if they don't fix the problem. Personally, I don't like the idea of forcing people to buy anything. I'm not worried either because when the dust finally settles Americans will be better off.

Cicilline talking about "common sense"? If that weasel had any, Providence wouldn't be in quite the mess its in. I wonder if he chose those words because they're part of one of Brendan Doherty's slogans?

So if I promise you that in two years you will all have free puppies and kittens and I then take $5,000 set aside in a bank account to pay for it and begin buying them for you, only to find out two years later that I don't have the money to pay for anymore puppies and kittens and then terminate the program you have somehow "lost" a "benefit"? Maybe I just made a stupid promise that you never should have relied upon and you are no worse off than you were before you met me.

I thought GoLocal was a news source that could be relied upon to provide honest journalism. Obviously, they are going to be controlled by the politicians. Obamacare is one of the worst federal government programs that has ever been foisted on the taxpaying public. It is another example of the government forcing those who pay the taxes to support those who pay no taxes and in many cases don't legally belong here. Elizabeth Roberts has demonstrated once again that she is a career politician.

There is little difference between Democrats and Republicans - both parties have destroyed our once great nation. Both have sold their soles to the highest campaign contributors. The nation has lost in the process.

Sleep well politicians of both parties, knowing you destroyed your children and grandchildren's futures.

There's your government's bipartisanship working together as always.
This is the mentality that has gotten this country where it is today.
Politicians don't care what the plan is. If the Dems created it, the Reps don't want it. If the Reps created it, the Dems don't want it.

The Dems have spent more in this administration than in any other, in the history of the country. And now they are balking at making cuts.
Is ANYONE surprised at this?

This is a wasted effort, funded by wasted tax dollars. Obamacare is unconstitutional, and will soon fail. This whole statement by Weldon sounds like something out of Pravda. Go on Drudge, link to the North Korean News, and you will be amazed at the similarities.
