Misguided, mindless and incompetent are the best ways to describe our GA and the RI leadership. This is pouring money down a sink hole, not building any foundation for RI to come back from the brink of bankruptcy.
Look at the Connecticut casinos, they are cutting back due to lost revenues, one of them has stopped paying the Indian tribes any money and RI wants to jump head first into this mess?
Let’s not bet on our future with the present GA and let’s vote in a massive change to people, I don’t think we have to analyze anything other than look at the terrible job the present GA has done along with the worst Governor ever.

It is the same no matter who the mayor is; granted SissyLinie was the worst, there are incompetent people in jobs that they should not have in the first place. I'll bet most agencies do not have concise job descriptions and written procedures as to how they are supposed to do their jobs and report transactions.Start putting skilled people in our government, not friends and family or politically connected people in jobs with responsibilities, especially with federal money.

Maybe Red Sox fans have recognized the underbelly of the guaranteed contract, and it's not pretty. Josh Beckett, for example, makes $32,000 a week -- come rain or come shine -- through 2014. John Lacking makes more. And Carl Crawford? Well....From: EXCLUSIVE: Hayes to be Named Brown’s AD

If Cumberland was not improving over two decades, where could he have had the biggest impact? The few hundred children at BVP who two third of them don't live in Cumberland or the 5000 children going to a "not improving" school system in Cumberland.Mayor McKee lost sight that the children in the school system in Cumberland Public Schools need all the help they can get.
Let's not forget that BVP is removing over $1 million dollars in tax payer money for this private school.
I know you will say it is a public school, but really now, do you have to enter a lottery to go to Lincoln, Cumberland or Central Falls Public Schools? .......nope.....
Sure we are frustrated with the Cumberland Schools, while the mayor travels the country and writes about how well BVP is doing, we suffer for a few hundred students.
If he put just a tenth of the time he has put into BVP into the Cumberland School System, think how well off we all would be.
When was the last time the mayor of Cumberland showed up at a school committee meeting? You could count them on one hand and one finger? He has been giving the middle finger to us taxpayers for many years now.

I think GoLocal should do their own poll and have students rate their professors - might gather some interesting additions - I'm thinking of a few at URI, Roger Williams, PC, that are fabulous, life-altering educators for young people - probably at least 1 or 2 at every university, albeit a cluster of them at Brown! From: NEW: Cicilline Joins President Obama for Signing of STOCK Act

I guess it doesn't really matter how many times the people of the state, or the people of Newport and Lincoln vote this down.It keeps turning up on the ballot.
Then again, it doesn't really matter what the people want. The town of Lincoln voted against 24 hr gaming....but yet Twin River is open 24 hrs.

"Not Telling" -- Mayors aren't elected in a "school system", they're elected in a community -- Mayor McKee founded BVP Mayoral Academy to light a fire: Cumberland and the state were NOT improving over two decades. Now Cumberland has a public school that's among the very best in the state, BVP, one of the better Superintendents in the state, a unanimous School Committee vote for full day kindergarten, and MUCH higher expectations for district schools. I understand you are focussed on your own child who's struggling but this is a GIANT success story in the making. You should be asking your elected school committee why your child's school isn't implementing the proven practices of the Mayoral Academy. The answer you get should be very interesting! From: Federal Investigations Plague Providence

Agencies that are more important for their ability to take on connected, related, or other wise non-desireable employess, tasked to serve society's weakest links, will always be loaded with fraud. From: Federal Investigations Plague Providence

It's unlikely Tavarish will "give feds full access to these agencies". From all indications, the unions and democRAT "leadership" has gotten to him with typical pressure and threats. The feds will have to investigate, indict, incarcerate. The corrupt A.G.'s office won't. They're busy (waiting for directions and hand-outs). Sad!
STOP VOTING DEMOCrat!

This is exactly the reason I launched my Facebook group, prov$$$watch! We need more oversight! Taveras should clean house,he keeps appointing the same people on all these boards, commissions and committees,as does the city council. Half the time the people appointed to these various committees etc, don't even show up for the job. Frequently members are absent, sometimes they don't even have a quorum . Some of them show up and sit there like they don't have a clue. Also they have people who are on multiple boards and committees." Critics say the current administration is not at fault for the agencies’ woes, instead claiming a lack of oversight during Congressman David Cicilline’s eight-year tenure as Mayor is to blame. "
Can you imagine Taveras is supporting cicilline to,you cant make this stuff up. Anyone who supports cicilline should have there head examined! What did cicilline say on that tape,"I left providence in great shape" just $110 million short lol.

The government of this state and this city need to be cleaned out. This is just proof positive of the corruption of the Cicilline administration. Tavaras inherited a mess and needs to give the feds full access to these agencies that are distributing federal funds. Providence has always been corrupt and will continue to be until the taxpayers demand change. From: BREAKING: City Loses Out on $1.6 Million, Memo Reveals

Blackstone Valley Prep should be closed. Our mayors should be advocating for the school system they were elected in. While Mayor Daniel McKee has put all his efforts in BVP, my Cumberland 8th grader is reading at the grade 3 1/2 level. Thanks mayor...see you at the voting booth.

This "editorial" might have more credence except for the fact that Ms. Steiny is a highly paid consultant to the CF school system. Seems to cross the line into pandering for one's paycheck. Before Anna, BVP did return IEP kids back to CF. Amazing that the district is willing to invest its time @ the charter but should one of its own public school teachers struggle with a child such as Anna, that teacher would be labeled as ineffective. Very little support or mentoring for its own staff. Curiouser and curiouser.....From: Donna Perry: RI Becoming the Land of Last Resort

How did we get here? We got here because of or DEMOCRAT controlled legislature. The party of give-me, which is controlled by public sector union leaders. If you are in a public sector union, your leadership has failed you. Just look at Ciccone's comments to the Barrington Police. These leaders act like mafia dons. Interesting. How did they come up with this list? What was the criteria? While I'm not disputing that these 5 professors are good, I find it hard to believe that no other institution of higher learning in RI has made the list. Thank you for the acknowledgment of Jim Foster who won his 200th game at URI recently. He is from Warwick, went to Bishop Hendricken and PC (when they still played baseball there). He played minor league ball for about 10 years but never a day in the majors. He once hit a game winning hr in the Big East Tournament Championship that gave the Friars an NCAA berth.
He hasn't taken Rhody to the NCAA tournament (I thought the committee hosed them a few years back) but they have a good team now and this could be their year
