Yeah, CT does the same thing.I know a 22 yr old single mom (since she was 17) who collects....get this...unemployment AND welfare, gets food stamps, housing assistance and medical assistance for her and her son. They are paying her to go to school. They provide transportation for her, back and forth to school, and pay for daycare for her son.
Here's the kicker.....she's never worked a day in her life, and has no intention to go to work.
That's OUR tax dollars at work. Makes you want to sit back and watch the revolution.

You have figure that at this point, out of work trades people will take a blue, black, yellow or polka dotted job because they'll starve waiting for the green jobs to appearFrom: Side of the Rhode: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not in RI Politics?

Todd, I think they do. I hope they do.I KNOW the feds would be interested.
Also, I can't help but wonder where the State Police investigators were during the 2010 voter fraud orgy in RI District 1.

@Todd: they should if they turn the primary from a loss to a win for him. Both he and Taveras were rumored to have engaged in this type of activity in 2010, having people impersonate other voters to stuff the ballot box in their favor. Rumors were they even brought them into the city to do it, providing the transportation. My undestanding is there was a greater turnout in 2010 than in 2008 and non-presidential elections never surpass presidential ones for voter turnout. On top of which, Cicilline has less of a chance against Doherty than does Gemma, so democrats wanting to keep the seat blue would be well-advised to get rid of Cicilline ASAP.From: Aaron Regunberg: Bain’s Democratic Defenders are Nauseating

Hey Joseph--I usually only "answer" when there seems to be real points to debate, and these comments have mostly just been about me personally and not the piece. I will say to Mr. Fooks that it does seem that the jobs Bain was in some way involved in "creating" (he often cites Staples, which by the way Bain only invested 2 million into and whose success Romney had very little to do with) were all of a single variety--low wage service jobs, the kind that give absolutely no options for entry into the middle class. While the jobs he's destroyed have been the kind of middle-class employment that built this country up.From: Side of the Rhode: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not in RI Politics?

The final twist of the knife is that RI pay unemployment benefits for the workers brought to the state as part of this "job creation" program. If the company stayed in Massachusetts, Massachusetts taxpayers would be paying the bill. From: Side of the Rhode: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not in RI Politics?

Calls have to be made to the D.R.Maybe not hers, but how else can Cicilline keep registering non-Americans to vote in the Primary and the General?

How about that scumbag Providence City Council member-Carmen something or other who made thousands of dollars in calls on our dime and many of those were to the Dominican Republic? She could barely negotiate Enlish when interviewed. How did she ever pass a naturalization interview?Or did she? What a f**kin' disgrace with the city broke. From: Aaron Regunberg: Bain’s Democratic Defenders are Nauseating

if you look back to the 1990's, the edc funded a company called alpha beta with approx $30 million.you may wnat to research it.
also, ri is the small business state but pretty much all of the members of the edc board work for or run companyts that have hundreds or thousands of employees.
i think the board needs some successful business owners that have less than 25 employyes.

It's too bad that Ri pols and union hacks bought into Obama's nonsense about "green jobs". What a canard! Let's hope this Solyndrafication of America is over. And halt the ultra expensive Block Island Sound windmills too.
Here in Portsmouth, where the town purchased a Chinese made windmill, we are waiting for parts from somewhere to fix the dead windmill.

Dave, I'm not talking about that... talking about "The bill (H.R. 3606) will allow large companies with up to $1 billion in revenues per year to avoid financial transparency and auditing requirements." "Kudos to Mayor Taveras and the City Council for saying they are committed to providing a much-need increase in transparency in city government. Of course, it’s one thing to say you’re committed to open government and another to actually show a little follow through."Didn't David Cicilline campaign in 2002 with the promise that he would make Providence City government transparent?
Didn't David Cicilline campaign in 2010 on the success of his efforts to make Providence City government transparent?
Didn't David Cicilline in 2010 hide his mismanagement of City finances by restricting the City Council's access to records?
Hasn't David Cicilline, beginning in 2002 and continuing into 2012, continually lied about his actions as mayor and congressman?
If David Cicilline did not lie about making Providence City government transparent, why must Angel Taveras and the City Council take these actions now?
