I would think that from a more logical perspective, consolidating the nearly 40 school districts and administrations down to around 5, and eliminating 35 redundant sets of unnecessary school upper management and service management groups (payroll/finance/curriculum/pupil services/transportation/facilities management/food services/personnel/HR) would actually be a long-term solution that would also eliminate any need for raising taxes at the state level and would also lift so much of a burden at the local level that property taxes would actually be able to go down while still allowing for funding to be restored to things in schools that would otherwise get cut (or remain cut). Lance,Let me break this down for you. I usually like to vote for candidates that I believe I can trust. Tell me you won't raise taxes then my expectation is that you won't. Tell me you won't be corrupt, my expectation is that you won't fall victim to a RICO indictment.
Sounds simple right?
Well, Cicilline not only broke that trust he obliterated it with how he dealt with the financial crisis in Providence.
So yes, Congressmen deal with Federal issues and a mayor deals with local issues by and large, if we can't trust Cicilline with the local why in the world would we give him our trust with federal (read: exponentially larger) dollars?
