The $74 billion in budget cuts House Republicans proposed includes the elimination of AmeriCorps, an idea that could potentially devastate dozens of Rhode Island community organizations and cost the state more than 500 jobs.
AmeriCorps is a federally funded national service program that serves as the umbrella organization for thousands of nonprofits, public agencies and faith-based and community groups in every state.

The ads not only appeared on A.H.Belo’s Providence newspaper’s Web site - projo.com, but the site featured the ad for the sex shows on the site's High School Sports section called "GameTime."

Brown University's Corporation approved a new budget and a new tuition cost structure. The undergraduate cost in 2011-12 academic year will be $53,156 - a 3.5% increase in cost. The overall University budget increased 6.4%.
