Wallin Announces Seven-Point Plan on Corruption
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Attorney General candidate Erik Wallin tomorrow will unveil a seven-point plan for fighting corruption in Rhode Island, dubbed the “Honest Operation of Political Entities” Act, or HOPE.
His plan would create the ability for the state as well as private victims to sue perpetrators in civil court, revoke the pensions of those convicted of public corruption, appoint a special prosecutor, and form a public corruption task force.
“My legislative package is part of this plan and it will provide my administration as Attorney General as well as all future Attorneys General with additional tools so that we can reclaim Rhode Island from the political insiders that betray our trust,” said Wallin, a Republican. “As Attorney General, this legislation will be the first bill that I will call upon the General Assembly to pass.”
