Alix Ogden, a longtime staffer for Congressman David Cicilline, is leaving her position as District Director effective July 1, GoLocalProv has learned.

In a statement Cicilline praised Ogden for her service to the public and said he looks forward to working closely with her even after she leaves the staff.

“Alix Ogden has advised me that she will be leaving her position as my District Director at the end of this month,” Cicilline said. “I have had the pleasure of working closely with Alix for more than seven years and she has always been incredibly hard-working, effective, and deeply committed to her work. I am grateful that she agreed to assist me, as a new member of Congress, by setting up my District Office operations and putting into place, high quality constituent services.”

Ogden previously served as the Superintendent of the Providence Parks Department and toward the end Cicilline’s final term as Mayor, as Director of Administration. Ogden followed Cicilline to Congress, where she has been running the Congressman’s Pawtucket office since January. The reason for Ogden’s departure remains unclear, but Cicilline said she will remain a close adviser.

“I am thrilled that Alix has agreed to serve as a co-chair of my Congressional Advisory Board, along with my closest advisors, so that I will continue to have the benefit of her good counsel,” Cicilline said. “Alix shared with me that she is going to take some time to consider her next steps professionally which may include returning to school. I thank her again for her outstanding work and great professionalism."

A replacement for Ogden has not yet been named.
