Signs for City Council Candidate Vandalized
Wednesday, July 14, 2010
Providence Ward 14 city council candidate David Salvatore is speaking out after four of his campaign signs were vandalized.
Salvatore yesterday said that he believed the vandalism was politically motivated since his signs were the only ones of the five candidates in the race that were vandalized - although he stopped short of accusing a specific opponent of being behind the mischief. He said he was speaking out to remind the public and other candidates that vandalism of signs is a crime.
The four large signs each cost him about $68 - but Salvatore is not worried about the cost. He says he is more concerned about the impact the incident has had on his neighborhood. "That's not something these neighbors deserve and that's not something this neighborhood is used to seeing," he said. "I'm not sure that's something we want to start this political season."
