RI Campaign 2010 – Costantino Kicks Off Mayoral Campaign

Steven Costantino is formally launching his bid for mayor of Providence today.

Costantino is a Providence state rep who has served as the influential chairman of the state House Finance Committee. In the last legislative session, he steered the state budget through to approval and was the sponsor of a bill that created an education funding formula for the state.

The campaign will kick off with a cookout from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 943 Chalkstone Avenue. His campaign said hundreds of supporters are expected to turn out.

Fernandez Endorsed by Richmond Democrats

Joe Fernandez, a Democratic candidate for Attorney General, has been endorsed by the Richmond Democratic Town Committee.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Richmond Democratic Town Committee in my campaign to be Rhode Island’s next Attorney General,” Fernandez said. “As I travel across our state, I continue to meet people who are ready for a change in the way our government does business, who are ready for an end to the special deals and special privilege that are holding our state back. I intend to deliver on that change as Attorney General.”

Rival Archambault Endorsed by Westerly Democrats

Steve Archambault, also a Democratic candidate for Attorney General, has won the official backing of the Westerly Democratic Committee. “We are backing Steve Archambault because he will bring the energy, vision and new ideas we need to the Attorney General’s office,” said Robert Ritacco, Chair of the Westerly Democratic Committee.
