Raimondo’s Polling Numbers Are Terrible, But Not the Worst
Monday, April 25, 2016
Governor Gina Raimondo's polling numbers are weak. Only 6.5% of Rhode Islanders rate her performance as "excellent," but her numbers are not the worst for RI Governors. GoLocalProv took a look at Brown polling numbers for Governors over the past twenty years plus -- going back to Governor Bruce Sundlun.
What should be most disturbing for Raimondo is her number as weak at the beginning of her tenure and while the economy is improving. Most Governors in strong economies started strong and finished lower. For Raimondo and her political team, her high disapproval rating raise real concerns for a woman elected with 40.7 percent of the popular vote in November of 2014.
Take a look at the numbers since 1994 - from Governor Sundlun to Almond to Carcieri to Chafee.
