video: Raimondo Stops Short of Endorsing Cicilline

Friday, March 02, 2012

General Treasurer Gina Raimondo said Thursday that her decision to be a member of the host committee for a fundraiser for Congressman David Cicilline was not an endorsement.

Raimondo spoke to GoLocal following an event held at Alex and Ani World Headquarters in Cranston, explaining that she is a member of the host committee and is supportive of the Congressman, but she stopped short of endorsing Cicilline.

Asked specifically if her decision to join the host committee was an endorsement, Raimondo said, "no."

The fundraiser will be held later this month at the home of John and Letitia Carter, two wealthy East Side residents who have long-supported Cicilline.

The entire host committee includes:

Lorne Adrain and Ann Hood

Dr. Steven and Cheryl Blazar

George and Joyce Caruolo

Malcolm Farmer, III

Honorable Gordon Fox and Marcus LaFond

Honorable Gina Raimondo and Andy Moffit

Don and Sheri Sweitzer

Honorable Angel Taveras

Bill and Alison Vareika

Myrth York and David Green

Whatever good will and political capital Ms. Raimondo had was flushed down the toilet when her name appeared on the Cicilline invite. And now, being so careful to not be political prior, she twists and turns about an endorsement. It just goes to show, they are all the same...the lock-step, gridlock Dems...burying themselves to save one hopeless one of their own.

Too bad WPRI wasn't doing their poll this week...we would see a remarkably different favorability rating of Ms. "Flip-flopper" Raimondo.

she did alot of preaching about doing the right thing in the last year.

you have to make up your mind, you are part of the problem or part of the solution.

its hard to back away from cicclini.. he' tight with fox...he's tight with tavaras. he's also tight with all the big $$$ money donrs on the east side.

but you have to make a choice.....

I don't believe Ms. Raimondo is a true Democrat. Many have said that she is a DINO. I wonder...

Back to back people! Angel and Gina. They see the polls and then shove it right in our faces. Term limits. They both did some good, but the armor is being chipped away and it's time to let them go. No incumbents!
