Providence Community Library to Host Mayoral Candidate Forums

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Providence Community Library (PCL) will host “Meet the Candidates” forums where candidates for Mayor of Providence will respond to questions about neighborhood issues. Planned for April, May and June, attendees will have an opportunity to question all candidates at the sessions and tell them what they think about schools, libraries, safety, jobs and many other issues of concern to their communities.

“Our community libraries play an important role in the life of Providence, providing programs and services that respond to the needs of the community," said Deborah Schimberg, president of the Knight Memorial Library Friends. "Choosing a new mayor is an important decision and we hope these forums will help voters make the right choice.”

The Forums will take place on:

  • April 16 at Knight Memorial Library, 275 Elmwood Avenue (401) 467-2625
  • May 22 at Rochambeau Library, 708 Hope Street (401) 272-3780
  • June 12 at Wanskuck Library, 233 Veazie Street (401) 274-4145

All forums start at 6:00 PM, are sponsored by PCL Friends’ groups and moderated by the League of Women Voters. The Knight Memorial forum will be conducted in both English and Spanish.
