NEW: Whitehouse Raises $1 Million in First Quarter of 2011
Wednesday, April 06, 2011
U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse has a more than $1 million head start on whoever his GOP opponent is in 2012.
His re-election campaign yesterday announced that he had raised $1 million in the first fundraising quarter for 2011. Whitehouse’s first quarter total brings him to over $1.6 million cash on hand.
His campaign said it had had one of the strongest single fundraising quarters for a political candidate in RI history, made possible by the continued support of a diverse coalition of Rhode Islanders, including seniors, small business owners, and nurses. Fundraising efforts were highlighted by a well-attended event at the Providence Biltmore hosted by fellow Senator Jack Reed.

“I’m humbled by the support I’ve received from every corner of our Ocean State,” said Whitehouse. “It is an incredible honor to represent Rhode Islanders in the U.S. Senate and I will continue fighting to boost our economy, stop jobs from being shipped overseas, and put people back to work.”
